As we celebrate Earth Day
around the globe today
let us remember to
If you haven't already seen
the documentary series
'Planet Earth'
on the Discovery Channel
I highly recommend viewing it.
It's perfect for children and adults,
and is available on DVD.

In the words of John Muir
"When one tugs at a single thing in nature,
he finds it attached to the rest of the world."
I have seen that series, it's really good! Really quite beathtaking at times.

Happy Earth Day! I really enjoyed this fabulous post. What a wonderful planet this is, if we manage not to destroy it.

Happy Earth day to you. I loved that series Planet Earth, it was fabulous. I should have bought it when it was at Costco so cheap. Great photos you have posted.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Reminds me of my worldwide travels BC. I used to take tour groups around the world Before Children. Been to about 35 countries, and specialized in the former USSR, and Kenya. Loved going on Safari. Miss that big time.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up with a ByeloRussian mother who went thru the war, first being raised with everything (her father was the head of a state farm- everything to her was -food on the table, etc.), then having to eat out of garbage pails during the war...well, she saved EVERYTHUNG!!!
She would say in Russian,' Viskrebai Misku' (scrape the bowl), when making something. My sister and I would roll our eyes. Of course, that's exactly what we do, scrape the bowls. And we tell our children to do the very same thing. And my Gpa, from Russia, who came over in the 20's, saved and reused everything as well. We recycled when others laughed, when we would reuse paper towels in some format, etc...
Amazing. Common sense to be good Stewards of the Earth.

I was blessed to visit John Muir's home with a close writing friend of mine and my children last Summer. It was AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about your Russian Grandpa and the family saying of (scrape the bowl)...
A blog post to be treasured for so many different reasons....

Hi Diva,
ReplyDeleteI've been playing catch up this week. I sure enjoyed your Hometown tour...just beautiful! AND your garden tour. Very impressive, so lovely!
I was sorry to read of your Misty passing away. It's so hard to loose a pet because they become part of the family after all the years they spend with us.
Glad to see the wonderful Amish business is going to be rebuilt. Such a sad story.
And last, I enjoyed reading your 'Missing Puzzle Piece' post. I couldn't agree more.
Take care,
Mary Lou
Gorgeous images and great reminders of what we have to lose. Thanks, Diva!!
