I'm Baaacck!

( the lane in front of our cabin)

My husband and I along with my
17 year old son and two of his friends
took off to the mountains of
central PA for the long weekend.

(the rhododendren bush alongside our cabin)
My son Jason and his girlfriend Amy

came up and spent a few days with us.
The weather was glorious and we
spent a great deal of time visiting,
eating, hiking, eating, gardening, eating,
riding the 4 wheeler, eating, playing games,
 and did I mention eating?

(see the tiny hummingbird perched on the feeder)
We enjoyed quiet time on the porch
birdwatching.

The deer came to visit,

the black bear was seen in the area.
Wild turkeys were heard
singing their mating calls.

A great deal of time was spent
hiking through Bald Eagle State Forest.

These pictures were taken at Tall Timbers
right in our neck of the woods.

Even the drive to and from our cabin
was filled with beautiful scenery

such as this farm nestled
 between the mountain ranges.
Since I missed posting on Memorial Day
I want to thank all our veterans
and service men and women for their
dedication to protecting our homeland
 and our freedoms...weekends
like this would not be possible were it
not for these courageous men and women.
I'll be visiting  my friends
in blogland and catching up with
all of you. I feel like I miss so much when
I'm away. Stop by to visit me this week
as I'll be sharing more photos taken
in the mountains this weekend.

  5. Welcome back dear Diva:-) Oh my, how could you stand leaving such a lovely place?? I would have wanted to stay there! lol I love walking through trails like that but prefer not to meet up with any of the wild animals! hehe Isn't it amazing how much we can eat when we're together with family like that? I'm just so glad you had such a wonderful time and your pictures are truly amazing. xoxo

  6. What beautiful photos. I live in Northwest Pa, but as you go farther into the state is when you see the beauty of it like these photos show.

  7. Oh my gosh - your photos are like a piece of heaven on earth! GORGEOUS!! Love your little hummer! We have some, too... I would love to live somewhere where we had occasional visits from deer (and even bear, I daresay, as long as I was safely inside!!!)... Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment for dad!!!... Donna

  9. Wow, what a gorgeous scene, and I love your music. I love being in the woods, but I think I would be a bit nervous about the black bears. A perfect weekend, beauty around you surrounded by your favorite people.

  11. Beautiful! When you go hiking, what do you carry with you in case you meet up with a black bear?
