Wish Casting Wednesday

Once again Jamie over at Jamie Ridler Studios has asked another thought provoking question, 'What do you wish to complete?' This question can take so many directions and lead me off onto many different paths, some emotional, some spiritual and some practical. It would seem my life has been a series of starts without any real fruition. How many times have I begun a course of action only to abandon an idea? Far too many to encompass in this small little blog I'm afraid. Don't get me wrong, some things I've set out to do I have completed...somethings won't allow you to stop mid-stream and go back, you must continue to paddle on to the end.
I tend to overlook the successes and fixate on the 'failures'. So this morning I have had to stop and ask myself why that is? Perhaps because the unfinished is what leaves a longing my your heart. Something I dared to dream has not been carried out and therefore lingers, as a ghost to haunt me.
Some dreams got pushed aside to enable me to concentrate on the immediate needs of my family and friends. Some got pushed down because I feel undeserving of the joy that persuing them may bring. Sometimes I quit before I can fail...as if the outcome is already known. The 'Negative Nellies' living in my head often drown out the whispers of my heart, telling me I can't do that, I'll never succeed, why even bother.
My wish for today is that today's question would enable me to be brave enough to at least try, that in answering the desires of my heart I can quiet the 'ghosts' of unlived dreams. I wish to acknowledge that at least in trying I have answered the call of my heart  and that the outcome is not important...it is in the attempt that I will grow. So beginning today I will choose the 'Paths not Taken'...

  2. I can relate to your post, only too well! I am a terrific starter (one friend lovingly labelled me a muse, since I love to inspire others to try new things and then wander off on my merry way). I appreciate your wisdom in recognizing that the journey is filled with "trying" and the path of motherhood can make completion seem elusive- always around the next bend.

  11. Life is never easy. A lot of it is on how we make it. There is nothing you cannot do if you dream and try hard enough. You have to stop and think, what is best for all concerned. You will work it out.

"I tend to overlook the successes and fixate on the 'failures'. So this morning I have had to stop and ask myself why that is? Perhaps because the unfinished is what leaves a longing my your heart. Something I dared to dream has not been carried out and therefore lingers, as a ghost to haunt me"

  14. Hi Diva,

Love taking the paths not taken. Those are precisely the ones that beckon us. Remember Negative Nellies are other people's voices hanging out in your head. Tell them they are not welcome and give them 30 minutes to leave the premises. I wish for you to see how great you are! Giulietta

  15. As Diva Kresl wishes for herself so do I wish for her also. You've made me think of so many things - but mostly of those unfinished tasks which leave a longing in our hearts - to those I shall now pay attention. Thank you.

  17. Sometimes life just gets in the way of what you have planned. Sometimes things just don't work out the way you want. I have been trying to get my artwork noticed for a long time now and it seems I take two steps forward and then three back all the time. Nobody seems to really care enough about it to want to embrace it, but me. I question it all the time. DO I see something more there than what is actually there? I only know I love doing it, and so do it I must. It is a dream of mine to one day have people love it and want it for their own. As someone once said, "You have to have a dream to have a dream come true." I have a dream.

  18. You make me think, Miss Diva....and that's a gift from you to me. So, thank you.

That second to the last paragraph? Go ahead and refresh your memory; I'll wait. Okay, did you reread it? Good! You articulated so succinctly what the female of the species feels on a regular basis! I would guess that makes us all human and isn't it heartwarming to realize the entire sisterhood (if they're being honest) can identify?

Here's a suggestion for something to try when the 'paths not taken' seem innumerable - ask Him to keep you on His path.

How's Ceil and the what were the results of the testing on her bone?

  21. Diva,

Your post really resonated with me. I have a long standing history of a million unfinished projects and there are all the many ideas that I never start for whatever reason. I think it's just human nature to downplay the successes and focus on the "failures". As you wish for yourself, I wish for you lovingly!

  22. Just stopping by to thank you for visiting my corner and leaving such motivating messages.

My goodness! What a thought-provoking question and what an excellent response you've given. I found myself nodding my head in agreement so your experience is not so very different from my own.

  23. How interesting...just yesterday Sara and I were at a Boutique and saw a sign that had this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt on it, "Do the thing you're SURE you cannot do." That sounds like her doesn't it? : )
